Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating various machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings. The Machinist will work collaboratively within a manufacturing environment that emphasizes quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Duties Set up and operate CNC machines to fabricate components according to specifications. Utilize CAD software for designing parts and creating machining programs. Measure and inspect finished products using precision measuring tools to ensure adherence to quality standards. Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot any operational issues. Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize machining processes and implement lean manufacturing principles. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Required Qualifications Experience:
3+ years operating CNC machines (mills, lathes, or routers)
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering schematics
Material Knowledge:
Experience working with metals (steel, aluminum, stainless) or plastics relevant to your machines
Tooling & Setup:
Ability to set up tools, fixtures, and workpieces accurately
Precision & Measurement:
Experience with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to ensure tight tolerances
Problem-Solving:
Ability to troubleshoot machine and program issues efficiently
Work Ethic:
Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently or in a team Preferred/Bonus Qualifications Experience in custom machinery or packaging equipment (since SML specializes in grid packers) Experience with BricsCAD or other CAD software (helpful for design collaboration) Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement practices Prior work in small-to-medium-sized manufacturing shops Certifications (Preferred but Not Required) CNC Machinist Certification (NIMS, AWS, or similar) Associate degree or trade school diploma in Machining, Manufacturing, or Engineering Join our team and contribute your expertise in machining while growing your skills in an innovative workplace!
