Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Lathe Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate, set up, and maintain CNC lathe machines to produce precision metal components that meet strict quality standards. Your expertise in machining tools, blueprint reading, and CNC programming will be essential in delivering high-quality parts efficiently. Duties Set up and operate CNC lathe machines, ensuring proper alignment, tooling, and calibration for each job. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to produce parts according to specifications. Program CNC lathes using G-code, M-code, and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software such as Fanuc controllers. Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement tools for quality control. Conduct machine troubleshooting, maintenance, and adjustments to optimize performance and minimize downtime. Read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure parts meet design intent. Utilize manual machining skills with hand tools and grinders when necessary for finishing or setup tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols related to machining operations. Assist in tooling selection, machine setup, and calibration for new production runs or prototypes. Support continuous improvement initiatives through lean manufacturing practices and process optimization. Experience Proven experience operating CNC lathe machines in a manufacturing environment with a focus on metal machining. Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, and familiarity with Fanuc controls or similar systems. Skilled in reading mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and understanding GD&T specifications. Hands-on experience with machining tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, grinders, power tools, and hand tools. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and perform basic math calculations related to machining tolerances. Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or CAD programs is a plus for understanding design intent. Knowledge of measurement techniques for quality inspection using precision measuring instruments. Ability to perform machine setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and quality inspection independently. Prior experience working within lean manufacturing environments is advantageous for process efficiency improvements.
