Job Description
Description Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we've designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities- Independently set up and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machining centers, including complex multi-operation setups with advanced fixturing strategies.
- Perform in-process and final inspection using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, on-machine probing), interpreting GD&T to verify conformance. Collaborate with the inspection department to analyze reports and apply findings to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Proactively identify and drive process improvements in cycle time, tool life, and part quality with programmers and engineering teams.
- Make real-time adjustments to offsets, feeds, and cutting parameters to maintain tight tolerances and surface finish throughout runs, troubleshooting independently.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of tooling systems, holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts. Selecting appropriate configurations for new or complex applications.
- Apply material-specific cutting strategies across aluminum, stainless steels, titanium, nickel-based alloys, and engineered plastics.
- Prove out first-article NC programs for prototype parts, providing feedback on program accuracy, tool-path efficiency, and design-for-maneuverability.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to all level CNC machinists on setup techniques, process troubleshooting, and best practices for quality and safety.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by documenting standardized work instructions, setup sheets, and lessons learned for recurring or complex jobs A day in the life The CNC Machinist will work closely with programmers, engineers and machining shop management to outline, develop and optimize new machining and manufacturing processes.
- 5+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience Preferred Qualifications
