Could be up to a week duration. Overview This is a hands-on machining role focused on producing precision parts and components using manual tools. You will set up and operate machine tools, interpret engineering drawings, inspect finished parts, and make adjustments to keep production accurate and efficient. If you enjoy working with your hands, solving machining challenges, and producing quality work to tight specifications, this role offers plenty of variety. What you will do Machining operations Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications Set up and operate manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders Machine metal, plastic, and other materials to required dimensions and tolerances Monitor and adjust machining speed, feed, and depth of cut Select the appropriate cutting tools, drills, fixtures, and tooling for each job Inspect tooling and replace or sharpen tools as needed Quality and inspection Inspect finished parts to confirm they meet specifications and quality requirements Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and gauges Verify dimensions and tolerances throughout the machining process Identify quality concerns and make appropriate machine or tooling adjustments Equipment and material handling Load raw materials into machines and unload completed parts Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment Troubleshoot basic equipment issues to maintain smooth operation Follow proper material handling and machine operating procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Documentation and continuous improvement Maintain accurate records of machining operations, dimensions, tolerances, and production quantities Document tooling changes and machine adjustments Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, quality, and efficiency Work with other machinists, supervisors, and team members to improve production processes May be modified from time to time. Other duties, tasks, and work may be assigned. What success looks like Parts are produced accurately and consistently to required specifications Machines are properly set up, operated, and maintained Quality issues are identified and corrected early Production records and measurements are accurate and complete Work is performed safely with strong attention to detail Equipment, tooling, and materials are handled properly Machining challenges are addressed quickly and effectively What we are looking for High school diploma or GED required Vocational training or certification in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred Previous hands-on machining experience Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications Experience using precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to troubleshoot machining and equipment issues Ability to work with a variety of materials, equipment, and machining processes Strong problem-solving and communication skills Team focused with the ability to work effectively with machinists, supervisors, and other production employees Commitment to safe machine operation and material handling practices Physical requirements Frequent walking Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion Occasional reaching or working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds Work regularly involves handling tools, materials, equipment, and machined components We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex including pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other legally protected status.
