Additional $2.00 per hour Position Summary The CNC Lathe Machinist sets up and operates CNC lathes and related machining equipment to manufacture precision aerospace components. The position requires basic machine setup, fixture and cutting-tool preparation, CNC program loading, offset adjustments, in-process inspection, documentation, and preventive maintenance. Level 2 machinists work with minimal supervision and are expected to understand CNC programs, independently make routine setup and offset adjustments, and use advanced inspection equipment. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes and machining cells. Load and unload raw materials and machined components. Install and prepare fixtures, cutting tools, and workholding. Load CNC programs and adjust tool and work offsets. Start, stop, and monitor CNC programs correctly. Monitor cutting conditions, tool wear, finishes, and machine performance. Make routine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and production rates. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and specifications. Perform in-process and final inspections using appropriate measuring equipment. Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, air gauges, and bench-inspection equipment. Verify completed parts meet dimensional and quality requirements. Complete production, inspection, and traceability documentation accurately. Deburr parts and prepare components for the next production operation. Perform routine preventive maintenance and maintain machine cleanliness. Identify machining problems and notify the lead or supervisor when additional support is needed. Follow all PPE, machine-safety, lockout/tagout, quality, and housekeeping requirements. Maintain an organized work area in accordance with 6S standards. Meet established production-rate and quality expectations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications At least one year of CNC machining or CNC lathe experience; additional experience is preferred for Level 2 consideration. Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment. Ability to install tooling, fixtures, and workholding. Experience adjusting CNC offsets and understanding basic CNC program functions. Basic knowledge of G-code and M-code preferred. Ability to read manufacturing blueprints and technical instructions. Understanding of shop math, tolerances, and dimensional inspection. Experience using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Basic computer and manufacturing-system skills. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with leads, quality personnel, and other machinists. Aerospace or other regulated precision-manufacturing experience preferred.
