• 3:30 PM) (Confidential Manufacturing Organization) Position Overview A precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Boring Bar Operator to join its machining team.

This position is responsible for setting up and operating manual horizontal boring and milling equipment to manufacture and repair precision components while maintaining close tolerances and high quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong blueprint-reading skills, experience machining large components, and the ability to work independently in a production environment. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate manual horizontal boring and milling machines to produce precision-machined components Review engineering drawings, blueprints, process documentation, and work instructions to determine machining requirements Select appropriate tooling, machine attachments, feeds, and speeds based on material type and machining operations Perform a variety of machining operations including boring, drilling, reaming, tapping, counterboring, milling, facing, and precision finishing Machine components to tight dimensional tolerances while verifying accuracy throughout the production process Repair or rework existing components to restore them to required specifications Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges, verniers, and related inspection tools Safely move and position large workpieces using overhead cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment Maintain equipment, tooling, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition Communicate production issues or improvement opportunities with supervisors and team members Perform additional machining duties as assigned Qualifications Proven experience setting up and operating manual horizontal boring mills or similar manual machining equipment Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation Working knowledge of machining practices, tooling, precision measurement, and quality control principles Experience maintaining close machining tolerances and producing high-quality precision components Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills Effective written and verbal communication skills High school diploma or equivalent required Technical school training or machining certification is considered an asset Preferred Qualifications Experience machining large castings, fabricated components, or heavy industrial equipment Experience operating overhead cranes and other material handling equipment Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and inspection procedures Experience working in a heavy manufacturing or precision machining environment Work Environment Manufacturing facility with exposure to machine tools, lifting equipment, and industrial machinery Requires standing for extended periods and frequent use of precision measuring instruments Regular lifting, positioning, and movement of large components using hoists or overhead cranes Must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) Why Join Us?
