POSITION SUMMARY
The CNC machinist will setup and operate a lathe and work efficiently within a cell of three machines to run production of a variety of high precision, high-quality workpieces for the firearms industry This work, conducted in a bright, temperature-controlled environment, utilizes updated equipment and the most up-to-date technology. The CNC machine operator is responsible for consistency in production, quality inspection and cell maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Utilizing documentation, selects appropriate tooling, gauging and supplies to prepare the lathe and cell for production Performs machine setup and tool change Operates equipment efficiently, monitoring machine performance and workpiece quality to ensure specifications and production rates are being met. Performs quality checks as specified per workpiece to ensure proper tolerances are held Prepares cell performance documentation reports/checklists Cleans and packages workpieces for effective material handling May operate material handling equipment as needed to deliver stock to cell or stage completed product for shipment Communicates with others in the department to ensure the smooth flow of work Maintains a clean working environment through machine cleaning, tool organization, chip clearing, cutting oil maintenance, etc.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3+ years machine operation experience Attention to detail and a desire to maintain high standards of workmanship Applicant should be mechanically inclined, have good problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, be self-motivated and possess the ability to do highly accurate work that requires concentration and physical effort
