Onsite•Kohler, WI Opportunity The Machinist•Youth Apprentice supports the General Tooling department by performing foundational machining tasks under the direct guidance of experienced machinists, mentors, and supervision. This role develops core machining competencies through hands‑on exposure to both manual and CNC equipment, including mills, lathes, drills, saws, grinders, and related tools used to fabricate and modify parts to precise specifications. Job Responsibilities Operate a wide variety of tools and equipment of the machinist trade, manual & CNC, mills, drills, lathes, bore bars, saws, hand tools, chain hoist, hydraulic jacks and cranes, levels, grinders, etc. Be capable of reading, interpreting and using blueprints, drawings, sketches, measurements and work orders. Machine to proper dimensions and to meet general test requirements. Work from verbal instructions, drawings, job layouts, and sketches.
Maintain work area:
e.g., clean-up and keep materials and equipment in clean working condition; clean as required and at the end of each shift. Assist co-workers as required. Report any equipment abnormalities. Take initiative to address all process and equipment malfunctions and problems. Skills/Requirements Must be enrolled in an accredited high school technical education program with an emphasis in machining, working towards graduation. Required to take technical skills test to evaluate current knowledge of machining. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
