We are a second generation, family-owned shop conveniently located 5 minutes from I-94 near American Family Field. Our workload tends to be one off and short run orders that do not allow the freedom of having "setup" pieces. With some features having a required tolerance as tight as ± .0005", accuracy and execution are paramount. Summary Responsible for fixturing, tool set-up, in process inspection, and finish machining of tight tolerance features (+/- 0.0005). Collaborate with Managers, Process Engineers, Operators, and Quality to plan and execute the most cost-effective method for producing quality parts. Education High school diploma or GED/SHED, required Journeyman or 2-year technical degree, preferred Essential Duties & Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary by Management. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and sketches to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences Independently select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices based on part and job requirements Independently perform machining operations such as turning, facing, threading, boring, and grooving using manually controlled machines Perform basic daily preventive maintenance duties Complete required inspections, and appropriate paperwork Provide feedback to improve processes, tooling etc Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work area Perform shop duties as directed and required. Experience & Skills Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience. Specifically, this position requires: Proficient knowledge of inserted cutters, and boring tooling Proficient knowledge of feeds & speeds Ability to measure/inspect: lengths, diameters, radii, straightness, flatness, etc. using traditional metrology methods (ID / OD Micrometer, Caliper, Depth Gage, Radius Gage) Basic knowledge of GD & T Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as basic math, layout functions, fractions, decimals, angles, percentages and ratios. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to multi-task efficiently Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems using critical thinking skills Ability to organize and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and expectations Other Requirements Valid driver's license, preferred Exceptional Attendance Record Successful completion of Fusion Babbitting Overhead Crane Training, required Successful completion of Fusion Babbitting Forklift Training, required Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following: Occasionally talk or hear Frequently stand and walk Frequently climb ladders and stairs Frequently stoop, kneel, bend or crouch Frequently lift and/or move physical products (up to 50 lbs) Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
These include:
forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, airborne particles, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The work is performed indoors in a shop environment.
