Job Description

PROJECTXYZ
has a rare opening for a Process Technician in our manufacturing area where we provide prototype molds and parts to major OEM companies using world-class equipment and leading-edge technologies through stereolithography, selective laser sintering, vacuum casting, and other specialized processes. The Process Technician is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining injection molding processes to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production of quality parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of technical know-how, hands-on mechanical skills, and problem-solving abilities to keep machines running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation and Setup Troubleshooting and Process Optimization Preventative Maintenance Quality Assurance Documentation & Safety Continuous Improvement Duties and Responsibilities:
Set-up and start-up of molding machine, auxiliary equipment, tooling as specified on the set-up master. Install and remove molds, auxiliary equipment, and required tools. Perform machine startups, shutdowns, purging, and changeovers. Monitor production processes to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional requirements. Optimize cycle times while maintaining product quality and process capability. Document process changes and communicate adjustments to appropriate personnel. Diagnose and correct molding defects. Troubleshoot machine, mold, material, and process-related issues. Assist with mold and machine troubleshooting to minimize production downtime. Verify first-piece and startup samples meet established specifications. Perform basic preventative maintenance and operator level maintenance on molding equipment and auxiliary systems. Keep machines, work areas, and tooling clean and organized. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including proper use of PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Reads operating logs to identify inoperative injection machines, determines reasons for machine malfunctions, and arranges for machine repair. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree, certificate, or vocational training in a related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in plastic injection molding or a related manufacturing environment preferred. Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills Must be experienced in mold set-ups, trouble shooting, and exposure to maintenance problems. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms. Must possess the skills and knowledge of creative problem solving, and be detail oriented Strong problem-solving, attention to detail and teamwork skills
Physical Factors:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment Must be able to stand or walk for 8-12 hours, stooping, bending and climbing Ability to perform repetitive movements and safely access machinery and production equipment. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds with or without assistance. Push/pull up to 300 lbs. with or without assistance
