Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Laser Operator to operate CNC fiber laser cutting equipment in a manufacturing environment. The Laser Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating laser cutting equipment, loading and unloading material, selecting and running CNC programs, monitoring cut quality, and ensuring finished parts meet drawing and quality requirements. The ideal candidate has experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment, reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and handling metal materials. Experience with fiber laser equipment and nesting software is preferred; however, we are willing to train a mechanically inclined candidate with strong manufacturing experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC fiber laser cutting equipment. Review production schedules, work orders, drawings, and cutting programs before beginning jobs. Load sheets of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials onto the laser cutting table. Verify the correct material type, thickness, quantity, and program before cutting. Select, load, and run established CNC laser programs. Monitor machine operation and cutting conditions throughout the production cycle. Inspect cut parts for dimensional accuracy, edge quality, and conformance to drawings. Use tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment as required. Make appropriate machine adjustments within established operating procedures. Identify and report problems involving cut quality, material, programs, equipment, or tooling. Remove completed parts and scrap from the cutting table. Identify, count, organize, and stage completed parts for the next manufacturing operation. Properly identify and return usable remnant material to inventory. Maintain accurate production, material usage, scrap, and job records. Perform routine operator-level machine inspections and preventive maintenance. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company 6S and housekeeping standards. Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized. Follow all company safety procedures, including PPE, machine guarding, material handling, and lockout/tagout requirements. Assist with troubleshooting machine and production issues. Work with supervisors, maintenance, quality, engineering, and other production employees to maintain an efficient workflow. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED preferred. Manufacturing, fabrication, machining, or CNC equipment experience preferred. Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and manufacturing drawings. Ability to accurately use basic measuring equipment. Basic computer skills and ability to operate computerized industrial equipment. Ability to perform basic shop math, including decimals and fractions. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work independently while maintaining production and quality standards. Dependable attendance and ability to work scheduled hours and overtime when required. Preferred Previous CNC laser operator experience. Experience operating fiber laser cutting equipment. Experience with HSG, Haas, Trumpf, Amada, Mazak, Bystronic, or similar CNC laser equipment. Experience with laser nesting or programming software. Experience cutting mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Forklift and/or overhead crane experience. Experience in a metal fabrication or production manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements This position regularly requires the employee to: Stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift. Bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull as required. Lift and carry materials or parts weighing up to 50 pounds independently . Safely handle sheet metal and fabricated components. Work around industrial machinery, moving equipment, sharp metal edges, noise, and varying temperatures. Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and gloves as appropriate. Safety & Quality Expectations Safety and quality are essential responsibilities of this position. The Laser Operator must follow all established safety procedures, properly use required PPE, maintain awareness of machine and material hazards, and consistently produce parts that meet specified drawings and quality requirements.
