Job Description

Job Responsibilities & Requirements A Brief Overview The Machine Operator will set up and operate conventional mills, lathes, and other machines using Lean and 5S methodologies to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts. Responsibilities Identifies different types and sizes of steel needed for the job (primarily HRS and CRS) Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, work orders, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements Set up and Operate manual machinery including lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, and radial arm drill Inspect finished parts and record results Maintain clean and organized work area Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds and feeds for machining operations Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot minor machine issues Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes but is not limited to the ability to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the workstation ready for work at the start of the shift, and work mandatory overtime when necessary Qualifications High School/GED required 2+ Years preferred Able to use Microsoft Office Applications Technical School Certificate preferred Soft Skills Ability to read and understand a tape measure, 12-inch scale, micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices (Imperial and Metric)
Computer Skills:
Windows Operating System.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Mathematical Skills:
Must be able to convert fractions to decimals, must be familiar with the metric system and metric to imperial conversions
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Physical Demands This is a physical position that requires the individual to be able to: stand, walk and carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull, climb, walk up stairs and crouch. This position requires the individual to be able to communicate through speaking and hearing.
