Full Job Description Machine Operator Location:
Crows Landing, CA, United States Job Function:
Operations Description Cal Coast Almond Processing Inc. an established almond handler, processor, packer and shipper located in Crows Landing, California. CCAP specializes in the packing and shipping of both inshell and brown skin almonds domestically and globally. Position Summary The Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating production and processing equipment at Cal Coast Almond Processing. This position monitors equipment performance, product flow, and product quality to ensure production requirements, food safety standards, and company specifications are met. The Machine Operator works closely with Shift Supervisors, Quality Control, Maintenance, and other production employees to maintain efficient production while minimizing downtime, product loss, and safety risks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate assigned almond processing, sorting, sizing, conveying, packaging, and related production equipment.
  • Start up, operate, monitor, adjust, and shut down equipment according to established procedures.
  • Monitor product flow and equipment performance throughout the production process.
  • Make appropriate machine adjustments to maintain production rates and product quality.
  • Immediately report food safety, product quality, equipment, or production concerns to the Shift Supervisor or Quality Control.
  • Monitor production screens, controls, alarms, sensors, and other equipment indicators.
  • Identify equipment problems and notify Maintenance or supervision when repairs are required.
  • Assist Maintenance personnel with troubleshooting when appropriate.
  • Complete required production records, downtime records, quality checks, and other documentation accurately.
  • Verify the correct product, lot, variety, packaging material, and production instructions before and during production.
  • Perform product changeovers and assist with equipment setup between production runs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform routine equipment cleaning and sanitation as required.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety procedures, sanitation requirements, and required PPE.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and never bypass or disable machine guards or safety devices.
  • Immediately report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, injuries, near misses, product spills, or equipment damage.
  • Assist with reducing product loss, rework, downtime, and unnecessary waste.
  • Communicate production status, equipment issues, and outstanding concerns during shift changes.
  • Work cooperatively with production employees, Quality Control, Maintenance, and supervisors.
  • Assist with training new employees on assigned equipment when requested.
  • Perform other production-related duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous machine operator, manufacturing, agricultural processing, or food-processing experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn the operation of industrial processing equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to understand production instructions and equipment settings.
  • Basic math skills and ability to accurately complete production records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and different shifts as production needs require.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, reach, twist, push, and pull.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate equipment and controls.
  • Regularly lift and carry materials associated with production duties.
  • Work around moving machinery and industrial equipment.
  • Climb stairs or work platforms when required.
  • Work in conditions that may include dust, noise, temperature changes, and outdoor conditions.

                $20.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week
