This position is designed as a training role, providing hands-on experience to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to independently operate one machine line. The Operator Assistant is expected to learn machine operation, quality standards, tooling, safety procedures, and production requirements while assisting with daily manufacturing activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist the Screw Machine Operator with machine setup, operation, and production activities. Load raw materials into machines and remove finished parts from production. Inspect parts through visual and basic dimensional checks using measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications. Assist with tool changes, machine adjustments, and routine machine maintenance under the direction of the Operator. Keep machines supplied with materials and ensure continuous production flow. Help maintain accurate production records and report production issues to the Operator or Supervisor. Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties around machines and work areas to maintain a safe and organized workplace. Learn to identify common machine issues and notify the Operator of any abnormalities. Assist in operating equipment such as parts counters, drill presses, stone and diamond grinders, and other secondary equipment as assigned. Properly use hand tools including pliers, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, calipers, tweezers, micrometers, dial gauges, limit gauges, scales, and other measuring devices. Follow all work instructions, quality procedures, and safety requirements. Demonstrate a willingness to learn machine setup, tooling, shop mathematics, blueprint reading, and quality inspection techniques. Accept coaching and constructive feedback while continuously developing the skills necessary to independently operate one machine line. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Perform other duties as assigned. Training and Development This position serves as an entry point into Screw Machine Operations. Employees are expected to progressively develop the skills required to: Understand machine functions and production processes. Perform quality inspections independently. Assist with machine setup and tooling changes. Safely operate one screw machine production line with minimal supervision upon successful completion of training. Qualifications/Education High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish Experience Manufacturing experience preferred but not required. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn CNC/Screw Machine operations strongly preferred. Experience using measuring instruments or hand tools is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail. Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to work independently after training. Good communication and teamwork skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Physical Demands Frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Stand and walk for extended periods during the shift. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle small components and tools. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
