The operator uses a cold-feed extruder to convert strips of uncured rubber into tubes, strips or cord. Those materials are used to make preforms for molding. Job Duties The operator performs these activities: Completes daily time card Follows and signs work orders If required, completes work order changes Follows extruding schedule for shift; Cleans out extruder Follows safety rules. The operator may perform any of these operations: Extrudes tube on a 2.5-inch extruder Extrudes tube on a 4.5-inch extruder Extrudes strips on a 2.5-inch extruder Extrudes strips on a 4.5-inch extruder Extrudes cord on a 2.5-inch extruder Extrudes and chops tube on a 2.5 inch extruder Requirements Minimum education: 12th grade or equivalent Minimum experience: six months' as an extruder helper Must be able to use dial calipers. Physical Requirements Stands on concrete floor up to 10 hours. Lifts reels of rubber weighing up to 50 pounds.
