As a Machine Operator, you will play a key role in processing steel products, fulfilling customer orders accurately, and ensuring safe and efficient operations throughout our facility. What You'll Do:
Safely operate steel processing equipment and machinery. Perform routine equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes. Read and interpret work orders, production instructions, drawings, and specifications. Process customer orders accurately, ensuring correct material, dimensions, and quantities. Use precision measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, squares, and micrometers. Maintain inventory accuracy through proper material identification and data entry. Complete production paperwork and system transactions accurately. Follow all safety policies, operational procedures, and quality standards. Work collaboratively with team members to meet production and customer service goals.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or GED. Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or steel industry experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Basic math skills; knowledge of measurements, algebra, and geometry is a plus. Ability to learn computerized production and inventory systems. Forklift and overhead crane experience or the ability to become certified. Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, and production documents. Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing. Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment. Ability to lift and move heavy materials with the assistance of equipment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. Ability to safely work around moving equipment and overhead cranes.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily performed in a steel processing and warehouse environment. Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, industrial noise, steel dust, and moving equipment.
