Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to operate various wire braiding and extrusion machines, responsible for placing jackets on wires. Any experience in cable production is considered a significant advantage. The role involves moving wire rails to appropriate machines and ensuring the correct wires are set according to customer specifications. Basic math skills are essential for making necessary adjustments related to length, order size, or minor specifications. Responsibilities Operate wire braiding and extrusion machines for jacket placement on wires. Move wire rails to appropriate machines and ensure correct wire settings as per customer specifications. Perform jacketing of wires by running plain wires through machines, connecting them to rails, and ensuring proper wrapping and cooling processes. Execute plastic wrapping processes to prevent wire unraveling. Bundle multiple types of finished wires, align them properly, and ensure they are protected with clear plastic and rolled onto wooden spools. Essential Skills Experience with extrusion machines and machine operation. Ability to perform changeovers and read blueprints. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in using hand tools, tape measures, and calipers. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle loading and unloading tasks. Strong basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanically inclined and self-starter due to lean operations. Work Environment Work in a well-organized and clean facility with a team-oriented environment. The company employs about 18-25 people, with 15-20 on the shop floor. The work hours are from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The environment is focused and independent, allowing employees to excel in their roles. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bristol, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
