Machine Operator Summit Waste Solutions Milford, CT Job Details Full-time $30 - $35 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications CDL B Outdoor work experience Trenching excavation method Residential construction experience CDL A Mechanical excavators Commercial construction experience Trenching and excavation safety procedures Construction trenching Full Job Description About the Role We are hiring an experienced excavator operator to run machines on site work throughout Fairfield and New Haven counties. You will be digging, grading, trenching, and loading trucks on active job sites, working directly with our crews. This is local work out of our Milford yard. You are home every night. What You Will Do Operate excavators safely and productively on residential and commercial job sites Dig and backfill foundations, footings, trenches, and utility lines Load dump trucks efficiently and evenly, without overloading or spilling Grade and shape site work to plan, working off stakes, string, and grade marks Set and swap attachments including buckets, thumb, breaker, and grapple Work safely around laborers, pipe crews, and spotters in tight quarters Locate and protect existing utilities, and know when to stop and hand dig Perform daily walkarounds, greasing, fluid checks, and track inspections Report damage and mechanical issues immediately rather than running a machine down Help the ground crew when you are out of the seat, including pipe work, raking, and flagging What You Need Minimum 3 years of excavator seat time on active construction sites Ability to dig clean, accurate trenches and hold grade without constant checking Solid understanding of trench safety, including sloping, benching, and when shoring is required Ability to work safely around utilities and follow Call Before You Dig markouts Ability to read grade stakes and understand a basic site plan Reliable transportation and consistent attendance Comfortable working outdoors year round in New England weather Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen Nice to Have CDL Class B or A. An operator who can also move the machine or run a truck is worth significantly more to us.

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
