Brake/Shear Machine Operator (Miscellaneous) Shepard Steel - 2.9 Newington, CT Job Details Full-time 21 hours ago Benefits Profit sharing Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications English High school diploma or GED Driver's License Full Job Description Brake/Shear Machine Operator Our company is looking for an experienced Brake & Shear Machine Operator in our Newington, CT Miscellaneous Department. Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the employee will be responsible for operating one or several types of power fabrication machines, as well as preforming preventative maintenance to these pieces of equipment in addition to other duties. These items include but are not limited to: Read and interpret drawings, and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand. De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture per job specifications. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the brake and shear department. Analyze blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders. Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required. Assist with repair and maintain equipment, making emergency adjustments or assisting with major repairs as necessary. Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered. Operate forklifts and cranes to move material. Clean and lubricate machines per manufacturer's specifications. Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Machine Operator Required Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent Must be able to pass a Welding and Fit-Up test Ability to speak, read and write in English Valid driver's license with reliable transportation Physically capable of lifting/pushing/pulling 70 pounds unassisted Physically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing for long periods of time Able to work well with minimal supervision as well as with other technicians Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures Self-motivated, detail oriented and has a positive attitude
