Job Summary The 2nd Shift Layup Technician prepares and builds composite parts by placing prepreg materials into molds according to ply books, orientations, and engineering specifications. This role is responsible for accuracy, cleanliness, and repeatable techniques to ensure parts meet ATG quality and AS9100 requirements. Layup Technicians support the front end of the composite process and prepare parts for bagging and autoclave curing. Duties and Responsibilities Read and follow ply books, engineering drawings, work instructions, and process specifications to perform composite layup. Cut, handle, and position prepreg materials in molds with correct orientation, alignment, and ply sequence. Prepare molds, tools, and work surfaces by cleaning, applying release agents, and ensuring readiness for layup. Apply adhesives, films, and other composite materials as required by specifications. Perform vacuum bagging, sealing, and leak checks prior to autoclave processing. Track and document material usage, freezer time, out-time, and traceability data in compliance with AS9100 requirements. Maintain strict FOD control and cleanliness of layup areas, tools, and materials. Inspect in-process work to verify conformance and identify potential defects. Communicate issues to the supervisor and support corrective actions. Use computers and production systems to enter data, access production documents, and document work performed. Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Engineering to ensure process consistency and throughput. Qualifications Ability to work the night shift Basic knowledge of composite materials and manual assembly processes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, ply books, work instructions, and process specifications. Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity. Ability to work with repetitive tasks requiring accuracy and consistency. Knowledge of basic hand tools and measuring devices. Willingness to work overtime as required. Ability to follow written procedures and maintain documentation with accuracy.
