Position Summary The Framing Deck Operator Helper assists the Framing Deck Operator with the safe and efficient operation of equipment used to process and handle poles in a pole mill production environment. This position supports the movement, positioning, framing, measuring, and preparation of poles while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, physically capable of performing industrial work, and willing to learn mill equipment and production procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Framing Deck Operator with daily production activities. Help load, position, align, and move poles on the framing deck. Assist with measuring, marking, framing, and preparing poles according to production specifications. Monitor poles and materials as they move through the production process. Help operate or assist with machinery and hand tools as directed and after proper training. Inspect poles for visible defects, damage, or processing issues and report concerns to the operator or supervisor. Keep the framing deck, equipment, and surrounding work area clean and free of debris. Assist with removing scrap wood, bark, and other waste materials from the production area. Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, PPE requirements, and equipment operating procedures. Communicate effectively with the Framing Deck Operator and other production employees. Maintain a steady production pace while prioritizing safety and product quality. Perform routine housekeeping and basic maintenance tasks as assigned. Follow instructions from supervisors and operators. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Ability to work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required. Ability to work around heavy equipment, moving machinery, sawdust, wood products, and outdoor/industrial conditions. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and work in various positions. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment. Ability to work safely in a loud industrial environment. Qualifications Previous experience in a sawmill, pole mill, lumber mill, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment is preferred but not required. Mechanical or equipment experience is a plus. Must be dependable and willing to learn. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must work well as part of a team. Must demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety. Previous forklift, loader, crane, or heavy-equipment experience is a plus. Work Environment This position is performed in an industrial pole mill environment and may involve exposure to noise, dust, sawdust, wood debris, moving equipment, varying temperatures, and other manufacturing conditions. Proper PPE and adherence to all safety procedures are required.
