Job Description :
The Band Saw Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating saw equipment to cut and prepare steel products for fabrication. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and production standards. Key Responsibilities- Set up, calibrate, and operate band saws to process steel products according to job specifications and technical drawings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine precise cutting measurements and tolerances.
- Inspect incoming materials and completed parts for accuracy, ensuring all finished work meets specified dimensions and quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on saw equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and basic troubleshooting; report any malfunctions promptly to maintenance supervisor.
- Handle and move raw materials and finished components, using overhead cranes or forklifts as required, and follow all safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, complying with company and OSHA safety standards.
- Accurately clock in and out of work orders using the Shop Floor Data Collection computer. Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of experience operating a band saw or working in a metal manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Must be able to read a tape measure, angle finder, micrometer and calipers for precision measurements.
- Proficiency in basic math, measurements, and inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with metal cutting equipment and safety procedures in a manufacturing setting.
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
- Availability to work the 2nd shift and overtime as needed.
- Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality.
