Spherion is looking for a Machine Operator in Umatilla, FL to join a dynamic production team. As a Machine Operator, you will set up, run, and maintain extrusion production lines used to manufacture rubber wall base, moldings, and stair treads.
Pay rate:
$18.50/hour
Shift:
11:00 PM to 7:00 AM as scheduled (Overtime as needed)
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday (Fridays as needed) | Weekends Off!
Once full production resumes, work Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities:
Equipment Set-Up & Start-Up:
- Set up production equipment, regulate machine temperatures, and heat dies.
- Fill hoppers and load materials into extruders using vacuum systems or manual containers.
- Purge extruders, initiate start-up procedures, and thread product through downstream equipment.
- Monitor process parameters such as temperature, speed, pressure, heater bands, thermal couplers, and cooling fans.
- Make precise adjustments to product size, thickness, shape, length, and finish to meet quality specifications.
Production & Quality Control:

- Perform quality checks throughout your shift, inspecting for profile accuracy, color consistency, and surface defects.
- Retain required quality control samples at 30-minute intervals and accurately complete production reports.
- Move finished products from conveyor systems onto pallets and prepare cartons for shipping.
- Support team operations by relieving Packers for scheduled breaks and assisting with line changeovers.
Safety & Housekeeping:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace through general housekeeping, sweeping, and trash removal.
- Follow safety standards, keep machine guards in place, use proper lifting techniques, and wear required PPE (eye protection, ear protection, and safety shoes).

AM Skills:
- Prior experience operating extrusion or similar manufacturing equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with quality inspection standards and process parameters.
Education:
High School Experience:
1-4 years

- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and commitment to your team.
- Hardworking attitude with a willingness to learn, take criticism well to grow, and cross-train on multiple lines.
- Ability to stand for the duration of an 8
- or 12-hour shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in variable temperatures (including extreme heat during shifts) and high-noise environments with proper hearing protection.
