United Soft Plastics is seeking a dependable and experienced Extruder Operator for our Night Shift production team. This position is responsible for operating and monitoring extrusion equipment to manufacture quality thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) products safely, efficiently, and according to established production and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably with extrusion, plastics, compounding, or similar production equipment, and is comfortable working independently as part of a night-shift team. Key Responsibilities Prepare extrusion equipment for operation by following established start-up procedures. Coordinate with the Shift Supervisor regarding production schedules, work orders, and materials being run. Set and monitor operating parameters according to the applicable Control Plan. Record machine settings, production information, and required measurements accurately and on time. Operate the extruder throughout the production run, including refilling equipment, replacing and cleaning filters, and starting or stopping equipment as necessary. Continuously monitor product quality and visually compare finished material against established standards. Collect product samples for testing and communicate with Quality Control personnel regarding test results. Follow all labeling and packaging requirements to maintain accurate product identification and traceability. Weigh and document finished material, purge, and other required production measurements. Troubleshoot equipment and production issues and work with the Shift Supervisor, Maintenance, Quality, or other departments as needed. Complete production logbooks, work orders, and other required documentation accurately. Thoroughly clean extrusion equipment and surrounding work areas between production runs and at the end of each shift. Maintain an organized work area in accordance with 5S principles . Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures. Report equipment, quality, safety, or production concerns to the Shift Supervisor or Production Management. Perform other duties as assigned.
Material Mixing Responsibilities:
Extruder Operators must also be able to perform material mixing duties as needed, including: Obtain required raw materials from the warehouse based on production work orders. Verify raw material labels against work orders before use. Accurately weigh raw materials and document measurements. Safely operate mixing equipment according to established procedures and training. Prepare material charges in a timely manner to support continuous extrusion operations. Maintain clean and organized mixing equipment and work areas. Complete mixing paperwork and return unused raw materials as required. Coordinate with the Shift Supervisor and other Extruder Operators to maintain the production schedule. Qualifications Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred. Extrusion, plastics, compounding, machine operation, or related experience strongly preferred. Ability to operate and monitor industrial production equipment safely. Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills. Ability to follow written work orders, procedures, specifications, and quality requirements. Ability to accurately weigh materials and complete production documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Dependable attendance and ability to consistently work the assigned night-shift schedule. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, Quality Control, Warehouse, Maintenance, and other production employees. Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
