Job Title:
Honing Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator sets up and operates honing machines to produce precision components. This role involves running programmed operations such as milling, drilling, threading, sawing, and boring, while ensuring all products meet specified tolerances using precision measurement tools. Responsibilities Set up and operate honing machines in accordance with production requirements and specifications. Run machine programs to perform milling, drilling, threading, sawing, and boring operations on various materials. Gather required materials and components prior to production runs. Load and unload parts and materials from equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Position workpieces correctly and set machine parameters to achieve desired outcomes. Use gauges, calipers, and micrometers to verify that products meet tolerance and quality standards. Monitor machine performance during operation and make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy and productivity. Follow established production procedures and safety guidelines throughout all tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient workflow and equipment operation. Essential Skills Hands-on experience operating honing machines. Ability to run and adjust machine programs for milling, drilling, threading, sawing, and boring operations. Proficiency using precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining tight tolerances and product quality. Ability to safely load, unload, and position materials and workpieces on production equipment. Capability to set machine parameters and make operational adjustments during production. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in machine operation or production environments. Comfort working with various materials and components in a manufacturing setting. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control practices. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates in a production and machine shop environment with a shift start time of 7:00 a.m. You work directly with honing machines and other equipment used for milling, drilling, threading, sawing, and boring. The role involves frequent use of precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, as well as regular handling of materials and components around active machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tacoma, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
