THIS JOB IS ONSITE IN IDAHO FALLS, ID.
The Center for Educational Data Science and Innovation (EDSI) at the University of Maryland (UMD) in partnership with Idaho Falls School District 91 is seeking to hire and train individuals interested in serving as local study staff for a project about improving mathematics instruction. This project involves recording grades 4-8 mathematics classrooms to obtain high quality audio and video data. This project will begin in August 2026 and continue at least through spring 2027. Study staff will be paid $25 per hour. We expect study staff to work approximately 10 to 30 hours per week, with variation expected based on classroom recording schedules. Study staff will be responsible for assisting the research team with recruitment of teachers and support staff, administering consent forms and surveys to participating students and teachers, and scheduling classroom recordings. Study staff will also be responsible for managing classroom recording equipment (Swivls, iPads, and cell phones), including setting up, taking down, and storing the equipment, and troubleshooting any technical issues. Study staff will be in regular communication with the project manager and research team at UMD and will be expected to attend regular check-in meetings via Zoom. Qualified candidates must be excellent communicators, responsible, organized, comfortable using technology, and familiar with Idaho Falls School District 91. Prior experience working in Idaho Falls schools, especially with mathematics teachers, is preferred but not required. Local study staff will be expected to assist in multiple classrooms and schools at various times and on various days, so a flexible schedule and access to a car is required. Before beginning this position, individuals will be required to complete human subjects research training in accordance with the UMD Institutional Review Board (IRB) and complete any background checks required by the district. If you are interested, please email your resume to Research Project Manager Hannah Rosenstein (hrosenst@umd.edu). Feel free to email Hannah with any questions about the project.
