Job Description

At Perla Foods, the Machine Operator plays a key role in operating and monitoring packaging and processing equipment to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe production. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to food safety standards, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. Essential Job Responsibilities Operate and monitor packaging, sealing, labeling, and other production machines. Perform machine changeovers, setup, and adjustments for different product lines. Load and maintain feeders and raw materials to ensure continuous production. Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery; promptly report malfunctions to management or maintenance staff. Inspect packaged products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. Document production processes, including production data and quality checks. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety policies, and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth production flow. Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a production environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience in food manufacturing, food service, or regulated production environments. Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations. Previous experience with ingredient preparation or production machinery. Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. Working Conditions Work is performed in a food manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, moisture, food products, and temperature variations. Work may take place in hot, cold, or refrigerated areas, including environments ranging from 40°F to 50°F. Employees must follow all plant sanitation, hygiene, and safety policies, and wear appropriate clothing and PPE. Schedule may change based on production needs, including the potential for evenings, weekends, or overtime.
Physical Requirements Standing and Walking:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the production area.
Lifting and Carrying:
Ability to lift and carry objects, typically up to 50 pounds.
Manual Dexterity:
Use hands and fingers to operate machines, adjust settings, and perform minor repairs.
Reaching, Bending, Stooping:
Ability to reach overhead and bend or stoop to access equipment or materials.
Vision and Hearing:
Adequate vision and hearing to monitor machinery and maintain safety.
Endurance:
Stamina to handle a fast-paced environment, long shifts, repetitive tasks, and physical exertion. Food Safety Responsibilities All employees are responsible for supporting the company's food safety and quality initiatives by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation procedures, and company food safety policies. Employees must report any food safety or product quality concerns immediately to management.

From $15.00 per hour
