Machine Operator Job Description This role offers an opportunity for a reliable and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join a manufacturing team in Bensenville, IL. You will operate, monitor, and maintain production equipment to ensure efficient, consistent output while meeting strict quality and safety standards in a fast-paced plastic injection molding environment. Responsibilities Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently to support continuous production. Set up machines according to job specifications, work orders, and production schedules. Inspect parts and finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards and specifications. Perform routine machine adjustments and basic maintenance to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime. Troubleshoot equipment issues and promptly report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel. Maintain accurate production records and complete all required documentation in a timely manner. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines while promoting a safe work environment. Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards. Assist with material handling, including loading materials and moving finished goods as needed. Use hand tools, measuring tools, and inspection equipment to verify product quality and machine settings. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet or exceed production goals. Perform general labor, trimming, assembly, and inspection tasks associated with plastic injection molding operations. Essential Skills Previous machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment (plastic injection molding experience preferred). Hands-on experience with production machinery such as injection molding machines, molding equipment, and general production equipment. Ability to read and interpret work orders, basic blueprints, and written instructions. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and machine adjustments. Ability to use basic measuring tools, including calipers and tape measures, to verify dimensions and quality. Experience using hand tools safely and effectively in a production setting. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards. Basic math and problem-solving skills to support accurate measurements and machine settings. Ability to work safely in a hot, noisy, and physically demanding manufacturing environment. Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in line with 5S practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with plastic production, including plastic injection molding, rotational molding, or related processes. Experience in general labor, assembly, inspection, and trimming within a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with injection molds, injection molding machines, and mold setup or changeover. Comfort working with blueprints and basic technical drawings. Experience working in a maintenance-conscious environment that uses tools, maintenance systems, and structured processes. Work Environment This position is on the 2nd shift, working Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with an additional 8-hour overtime shift available on Fridays. The facility is a clean and well-kept manufacturing plant that operates multiple rotational injection mold machines used to produce plastic products. The environment is hot, noisy, and can be greasy due to the nature of plastic molding operations, so candidates must be comfortable working in these conditions. Steel toe shoes are required, and the typical dress code includes steel-toed footwear, jeans, and a T-shirt. The plant uses modern tools and equipment, including new tools for the maintenance department and a computerized maintenance management system, to support efficient and safe production. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bensenville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
