Job Title:
Multi Machine Operator / Material Handler 1st 8am-4pm 2nd 4pm-12am 3rd 12am-8am Job Description This role combines machine operation and material handling in a high-volume metals manufacturing and fabrication environment. You will operate and support multiple types of presses, furnaces, and cutting equipment, use overhead cranes and forklifts to move heavy materials, and help ensure safe, efficient production. The position requires comfort working around heat-treating equipment and heavy machinery on an overnight shift, with extensive cross-training and clear opportunities for advancement into higher-level machine operator and CNC roles. Responsibilities Operate a variety of production machines, including drill presses, shear presses, punch presses, straightening presses, torches, and other metal processing equipment. Load and unload machines safely and efficiently, ensuring materials are positioned correctly for each operation. Use overhead cranes, forklifts, CombiLift equipment, and other material handling tools to move products and raw materials throughout the facility. Monitor machines during operation to ensure products move correctly through the process and meet quality and production standards. Perform general production tasks such as machine operation, basic machine shop duties, general labor, and general warehouse activities as needed. Use hand and power tools to support production, maintenance, and cleanup tasks. Clean quench tanks and maintain clean, organized work areas to support safe and efficient operations. Perform housekeeping and special cleanup duties as assigned, including maintaining production lines and surrounding areas. Follow directions from supervisors and leads to meet daily production goals and adapt to changing priorities. Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties. Participate in daily production meetings and communicate effectively with team members and leadership. Support metal stamping, production equipment operation, and general assembly tasks when required. Assist with pre-heat, cut, drill, punch, pre-heat treat, furnace operation, crane operation, and receiving activities depending on specific assignment. Adhere to all safety procedures when working around furnaces, heat-treating machines, heavy CNC machinery, forklifts, cranes, and other equipment. Contribute to cross-training efforts by learning multiple machines and processes based on production needs. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent production and qualify for attendance-based incentives. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crystal Lake, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
