  • Monday through Thursday, 4:30 p.
m. to 3:00 a.m. Position Summary Elgin Industries is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Tube Mill Operator to join our manufacturing team on 2nd shift. This position is responsible for operating and monitoring manufacturing equipment used to fabricate metal components while ensuring product quality, safety, and production efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting abilities, and experience working in a fast-paced industrial environment. Employee Expectations At Elgin Industries, all employees are expected to: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area consistent with production and quality standards. Participate in cross-training and support other departments or workstations as needed. Uphold the company's values of honesty, integrity, teamwork, and respect. Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Set up, load, operate, and monitor assigned tube mill and manufacturing equipment. Follow work instructions, production specifications, and quality standards at each workstation. Monitor machine performance and product quality throughout the production process. Perform visual and dimensional quality inspections using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Make machine adjustments and offset changes to maintain product quality and production efficiency. Assist with tooling changes, machine setups, and changeovers as directed by supervision. Troubleshoot minor machine or process issues and communicate larger concerns to leadership or maintenance. Accurately complete production records, inspection documents, and other required paperwork. Safely handle scrap material during and after production runs. Maintain work areas using 5S and housekeeping standards. Support production needs by assisting other departments when required. Assist with training new employees or operators as needed. Build boxes and prepare materials for Grinding Inspectors and related production operations.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous manufacturing or machine operating experience preferred. Experience in industrial manufacturing, metal fabrication, or tube mill operations is a plus. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience strongly preferred. Skills & Abilities Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation. Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. Strong attention to detail and quality standards. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Physical Requirements The physical demands listed below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with arms. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasional walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, or balancing may be required. Must have close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Manufacturing/industrial environment. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and industrial noise. Noise level is typically moderate to high depending on production activity.
