PRIMARY DUTIES
: Monitors and adjusts the calender and all accompanying equipment so rubber sheet remains wrinkle-free and at the proper thickness Keeps a record of running speeds, gauge of rubber, and any adjustments made by request of the supervisor or inspector on the "Calender Daily Log" sheet Consults the "Product Specification Sheet" for proper sheeter speeds, backing requirements, and product weights Adjusts water valves (Line 2) or sets digital controls (Line 1) on the calender to ensure proper rubber adhesion to bowls Prepares backing rolls for mounting on machine and performs backing splices when necessary Can safely operate the hoist used to position backing rolls Adjusts rubber sheet width (trim) as directed by the supervisor or inspector Has a working knowledge of the safety devices on the mills and calender Assists the strip feed operator when needed Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards Commitment to ISO9001 and Continuous Improvement Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to product, process and the system Identify and/or record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system Tie the ends of rolls coming out of the wrapper Push rolls onto plate at the end of the line When not needed on the line, perform other auxiliary duties including, but not limited to, bundling plastic and cardboard, weighing PEG, general plant clean up Performing other duties as instructed by supervisor Commitment to ISO9001 and Continuous Improvement Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to product, process and the system Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected Use of forklift to move and open boxes/crates of rubber Capable of identifying different grades of rubber Can safely operate the small guillotine to cut bales of rubber into appropriate weights Understands how to use the digital scale for weighing rubber Calculates number of batches needed per work order Determines which rubber formulation is needed per work order from the "Rubber Needed for Each Formula" chart Loads conveyor belt leading to the Line 2 #11 Banbury Mixer with appropriate rubber Loads skids with appropriate rubber to be deposited by Line 1 #11 Banbury mixer Provides relief for line dumper Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to product, process and the system Equal Employment Opportunity/Veterans/Disability Employer To be considered for this position, please apply to link below: https://leggettplatt.applytojob.com/apply/fhBGKAZa5V/Calendar-Operator To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
