Job Title:
Systems Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on wire harness and assembly work supporting the production of cutting-edge U.S. military aircraft. You will perform wire terminations, install connectors, execute splicing and wire wrapping, and work with high-performance coax, while also having the opportunity to train in structural assembly, hydraulic and fuel line installation, and fuel pressurization testing. Responsibilities Perform wire harness assembly for advanced military aircraft, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with engineering specifications. Carry out wire terminations, including crimping, soldering, and securing connections according to aerospace standards. Install connectors and related hardware on wiring systems, verifying proper fit, orientation, and electrical performance. Execute wire splicing and wire wrap tasks, maintaining clean, organized, and secure routing throughout the aircraft structure. Work with high-performance coax cables, including routing, securing, and connecting them in accordance with technical requirements. Route and install aircraft wiring, ensuring proper segregation, strain relief, and protection from environmental and mechanical damage. Support avionics-related wiring and component installation as directed by engineering documentation and work instructions. Train in and perform structural assembly tasks, including basic riveting and fastening operations on aircraft structures. Install hydraulic lines, ensuring correct routing, clamping, and connection to meet safety and performance standards. Install fuel lines and participate in fuel pressurization testing, following strict procedures to ensure system integrity and leak-free performance. Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, work orders, and technical manuals to complete assembly and installation tasks. Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues and maintain high standards of workmanship. Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Work flexibly on 1st and 2nd shifts and be available to work overtime, including some mandatory Saturdays, as production needs require. Essential Skills At least 2 years of aerospace experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Hands-on experience performing wire terminations with consistent quality and adherence to aerospace standards. Proficiency installing connectors on aircraft wiring systems, including proper crimping and verification of connections. Demonstrated ability to perform wire splicing and wire wrap with attention to detail and reliability. Experience with aircraft assembly processes, including basic structural assembly and component installation. Knowledge of wire routing and wire installation practices specific to aircraft and avionics systems. Exposure to avionics wiring and component integration in an aerospace environment. Experience working with fuel systems, including fuel line installation or testing, in a manufacturing or assembly setting. Experience handling and installing hydraulic lines and associated fittings on aircraft or similar equipment. Riveting experience or familiarity with common aircraft fastening techniques. Active Secret Clearance. Prior manufacturing experience, preferably in aerospace or a related industry. Ability to work both 1st and 2nd shifts and to support overtime, including some mandatory Saturdays. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
