Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Package Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining efficient production flow of materials from the machine to the warehouse. Ensure product quality by completing all required paperwork, verifying correct labeling, and inspecting packaging to prevent contamination or damage. Your energetic approach will ensure smooth operations, maintain high safety standards, and support the overall production process. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic environment where precision, mechanical aptitude, and teamwork drive success. 12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule. Both Day / Night Shifts (shift diff) are available.
Days:
7:00am - 7:30pmNights:
7:00pm - 7:30am Duties- Maintain safe working practices as instructed and avoid unnecessary risks. Support a safe environment by reporting hazards, near misses, injuries, and accidents.
- Maintain a clean, organized team area and collaborate to uphold standards during periods of high workload or staff absence.
- Review all paperwork, labels, color charts, defects, and related documents to ensure they match the production order. Print additional labels as needed, verifying that all details are accurate and consistent with the order and previously packed boxes.
- Maintain a detailed production log that supports analysis and corrective action. Record machine downtime, restart steps, mold issues (with shot samples if needed), and all quality concerns. Work with the Process Technician to ensure accurate, consistent information on issues, fixes, and timing.
- Sort and inspect each box for defects such as flash, short shots, haze, voids, or any issues that do not match the approved sample. When uncertain, consult QA to confirm acceptability, and if the product is not acceptable, contact a Process Technician immediately to correct the issue or shut down the machine to prevent unnecessary scrap.
- Once inspected and closed, place the box squarely on the skid, label it, and initial or apply a green dot as required by the customer.
- Transfer completed skids to the wrapping machine, verify the pallet stack is safe and secure, and load it onto the auto wrapper for processing.
- Document accurate data to support management.
- Work collaboratively with the team to analyze issues within your area or the broader factory, brainstorming and problem-solving to improve or eliminate processes, procedures, and work practices that affect safety, quality, housekeeping, scrap reduction, machine uptime, and overall productivity.
- Keep the work area clear, safe, and clean at all times. Clean up or report any spills—oil, water, resin, colorant, or other materials—and remove trip hazards or other safety risks.
- Perform other duties as required by Management, including cleaning hoppers, the pump room, grinders, and other assigned equipment or areas.
- OT as needed. Qualifications
- Must be able to read instructions, production orders, and simple drawings, and follow all directions provided by the Supervisor/Manager.
- Must be a team player who works to safe standards and demonstrates a "can-do" and "do-it-right" attitude, with a strong focus on producing quality products and delivering excellent customer service.
- Capable of maintaining focus throughout a 12-hour shift to inspect products to required standards while ensuring a safe working environment.
- Able to lift weight up to 50lbs.
- Ability to write clearly contributes to improvements and identify opportunities to prevent issues before they impact safety, quality, or cost.
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
