As a Woodshop Machine Operator you will play a key role in crafting high-quality wood products that uphold Rustic Marlin's reputation for excellence. You'll work closely with our production team to ensure all items are produced efficiently, accurately, and to the highest standards of quality. Position Summary The Woodshop Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating, maintaining, and caring for the woodworking machinery assigned to them. This position is responsible for producing quality parts efficiently and accurately while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Woodshop Machine Operator is expected to take ownership of their assigned equipment, including routine cleaning, inspection, adjustments, preventative maintenance, and identification of mechanical or operational issues. The operator should understand how their machines function and be proactive in addressing problems before they result in poor quality, downtime, or equipment damage. Key Responsibilities Machine Operation

• Safely and efficiently operate assigned woodworking machinery and equipment.
• Set up machines according to job specifications, drawings, work orders, and production requirements.
• Make appropriate machine adjustments to maintain accurate dimensions and quality.
• Monitor machine operation throughout production and make adjustments as necessary.
• Ensure materials are properly loaded, positioned, secured, and processed.
• Perform quality checks on finished and in-process parts.
• Identify defects, dimensional issues, or machine-related problems and take corrective action.
• Maintain production rates and schedules while prioritizing safety and quality. Machine Ownership & Maintenance
• Take responsibility for the condition and performance of assigned machines.
• Clean machines regularly and remove dust, debris, and material buildup.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance as required, including lubrication, cleaning, inspection, adjustment, and replacement of consumable components.
• Inspect tooling, blades, bits, belts, bearings, guards, dust collection, and other machine components for wear or damage.
• Maintain proper machine settings and calibration.
• Identify unusual noises, vibration, wear, or other signs of equipment problems.
• Report major mechanical or electrical issues promptly and provide accurate information about the problem.
• Assist maintenance personnel or management with troubleshooting and repairs when appropriate.
• Keep machine areas organized and ensure tools and supplies are properly stored. Safety
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Operate machinery only when properly trained and authorized.
• Maintain and use machine guards and safety devices at all times.
• Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures when required.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or safety hazards.
• Maintain a clean work area to minimize trip, fire, and dust hazards. Quality Control
• Produce parts according to drawings, specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
• Measure parts using appropriate measuring tools and equipment.
• Perform first-piece and periodic quality inspections as required.
• Recognize when a machine or tooling issue is affecting product quality.
• Stop production and notify the appropriate person when quality cannot be maintained. Production & Organization
• Follow production schedules and work orders.
• Minimize material waste and unnecessary machine downtime.
• Properly identify and stage completed work.
• Maintain accurate production and maintenance records when required.
• Keep the workstation clean and organized throughout the shift.
• Assist with material handling, shop organization, and other duties as needed. Qualifications
• Previous experience operating woodworking machinery preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how machinery operates.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, drawings, and measurements.
• Ability to use basic measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to identify equipment problems and communicate them clearly.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned equipment.
• Ability to safely lift and handle materials appropriate to the job.
