Job Title:
Machine Operator Assistant Job Description The Machine Operator Assistant supports slitting machine operations in a clean, climate-controlled production environment. This role focuses on setting up and operating slitter machinery, handling raw plastic materials, performing quality inspections, and accurately recording production data to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent output. Responsibilities Set up slitter machinery and make precise adjustments to the cutting width according to production specifications. Load rolls of raw plastic material into industrial machinery using a stand-up forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Assist with machine start-up, shutdown, product changeovers, and material changes to maintain smooth production flow. Perform quality inspections using measurement instruments and visual checks to verify product meets required standards. Record production data, quality results, and downtime information accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area to support safety and operational efficiency. Handle rolls and materials carefully to prevent damage and ensure proper alignment during processing. Follow production and safety procedures, including proper use of equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes. Read and interpret basic blueprints or work instructions to set up and monitor machine operations. Collaborate with machine operators and production team members to resolve minor mechanical issues and support continuous improvement. Essential Skills Experience with machine operation or machine operating in a production or manufacturing environment. Ability to operate or assist with slitter machines and related industrial equipment. Stand-up forklift experience for safely loading and unloading rolls of raw material. Basic math and measurement skills for setting up cutting widths and performing quality checks. Mechanically inclined with the ability to understand machine functions and make basic adjustments. Experience with quality inspection using instruments and visual methods. Comfort working with overhead cranes and roll handling equipment. Ability to read and follow blueprints or technical work instructions. Strong attention to detail for accurate data recording and quality documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a Machine Operator, Machine Operator Assistant, or Slitter Operator. Experience in a production environment handling plastic or similar materials. Familiarity with downtime tracking and production reporting systems. Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and orderly work area. Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Available Shift and Pay 1st shift: 7AM to 5PM // $18.50 Currently working 12's temporarily based on demand (7AM to 7PM) 2nd shift: 9PM to 7AM // $18.50 + $1.00/hr shift premium Currently working 12's temporarily based on demand
Weekend:
7AM to 7PM (Friday through Sunday) // $18.50 +$2.00/hr shift premium Work 36 hours and paid for 40 hours Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a very clean, well-lit, climate-controlled production facility. You will work around slitting machinery, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other industrial equipment, following established safety protocols. The environment emphasizes organization and cleanliness, with a focus on accurate measurements, quality inspections, and efficient material flow. Work is performed on multiple shifts, requiring comfort with standing, moving materials, and operating equipment throughout the shift in standard industrial attire appropriate for a manufacturing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Richmond, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40560.00 - $42640.00/yr.
