Job Description
Job Title:
1st or 2nd Shift Operator Technician (Pathway to Maintenance Technician) Job Description This role offers a clear pathway from Finish Technician into Maintenance Technician. You will set up and operate finishing machines, serve as the first responder to equipment malfunctions within a designated department, and work closely with Maintenance Technicians to diagnose and resolve issues. Over time, you will build your mechanical and troubleshooting skills while guiding other operators to prevent recurring machine problems and maintain smooth production flow. Responsibilities Set up and operate finishing machines and related equipment within the assigned department. Act as the first responder to machine malfunctions, quickly assessing issues and performing initial troubleshooting. Conduct mechanical troubleshooting and minor repairs on equipment such as hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, spray guns, hoses, conveyors, elevators, ovens, sealers, sanders, belts, pulleys, brushes, motors, bearings, valves, and rollers. Escalate issues to Maintenance Technicians after you have worked through likely causes, and partner with them to further troubleshoot and repair equipment to expand your skills. Monitor all equipment in the department to identify potential problems early and help prevent unplanned downtime. Educate and guide other operators on machine operation, error prevention, and best practices to reduce repetitive machine errors. Communicate professionally and promptly via radio and in person to respond to calls, coordinate with production, and keep stakeholders informed of equipment status. Apply logical, step-by-step thinking to identify root causes of technical problems and implement practical solutions. Perform preventive maintenance tasks and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures as required to ensure safe work on equipment. Support production as an internal customer by listening to concerns, meeting their needs, and clearly communicating technical issues up the chain of communication. Work overtime and assist in other areas as needed to support overall operations. Safely maneuver heavy materials such as 300-pound stain barrels using provided techniques and equipment. Consistently adhere to safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with specific equipment. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goshen, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
