Job Title:
Manufacturing Operator Job Description The Manufacturing Operator operates production equipment and computerized systems to produce, assemble, evaluate, process, and package lithium-ion batteries in a clean, climate-controlled environment. This role prepares equipment and materials for production, follows detailed work instructions and operating manuals, and maintains high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. The position supports production volumes under the production plan, performs routine quality checks and self-inspections, and accurately records all production activities in the manufacturing execution system. Responsibilities Operate assigned production equipment and processes in accordance with work instructions and the operating manual (OP Manual). Prepare equipment, tools, and materials for production, ensuring correct setup and availability before each run. Input materials into equipment, monitor process parameters, and observe output to identify defects or losses for continuous improvement. Perform regular self-inspection of products and conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications. Maintain accurate and timely records of production activities in the Global Manufacturing Execution System (GMES). Track and document all non-conformances and scrap, following established procedures. Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and fire regulations while working on the production floor. Perform 5S audits and maintain production logs, quality check records, and maintenance work logs as required. Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with 5S principles: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. Ensure materials are stored and handled using the right location, right quantity, and right container. Follow established cleaning standard operating procedures (SOPs) during downtime, including cleaning designated machines and surrounding work areas. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and consistently throughout the shift. Collaborate with team members to meet and exceed production, quality, and safety expectations. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production and facility operations. Essential Skills 1-3+ years of manufacturing experience in production, assembly, machine operation, warehouse, or similar environments. Experience operating production or assembly line equipment in a manufacturing setting. Basic computer literacy to operate computerized systems and input data into GMES or similar systems. Effective verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions and document work accurately. Problem-solving and analytical skills to identify issues in the production process and escalate or resolve them appropriately. Basic arithmetic ability for counts, measurements, and production calculations. Reading and writing skills sufficient to understand work instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures. Ability to work effectively with individuals and teams to achieve shared production and quality goals. Ability to repeatedly lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds for periods of up to 12 hours. Ability to stoop, twist, reach overhead, sit, and stand for extended periods during a 12-hour shift. Manual dexterity and use of hands and fingers to perform detailed production and equipment operation tasks. Ability to properly and regularly use required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, nitrile gloves, and clean room suit for up to 12 hours. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
