Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for accurately packing, scanning, and sorting medications. Use barcode scanners and blister packaging while maintaining quality, accuracy, and efficient pharmacy workflow. Pack monthly routine cycle medications and daily prescriptions for Group Home and Long-Term Care facilities. Assist with restocking pharmaceuticals and work station. Work is assigned and performed under general supervision. Functions independently on routine work, and consults with supervisor on any work out of the norm.COMPENSATION
Pay Rate:
$24.00-$27.00 per hour. Pay rate is based on experience, qualifications, and other applicable factors.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Packs new orders and monthly routine cycle medications in blister packaging. Interpret pharmacy prescription labels to correctly select and prepare bulk items (ie creams, liquid medications, supplies) for delivery to clients. Assists automation team in sorting pre-packaged blister cards. Utilize pharmacy software to follow workflow guidelines and to scan medications for quality assurance Ensure labels are accurate, clear, and positioned on packaging correctly. Capable of meeting cycle daily packing productivity metrics and monthly targets and deadlines. Responsible for quality measurements and the accuracy of packed pharmaceuticals. Packing Unit work is well defined with clearly stated procedures, but does involve some non-routine and unusual tasks. Packing Technicians involve their supervisor for addressing non-routine issues. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives and regulations.ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to follow state and federal regulations pertaining to pharmaceutical dispensaries.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of pharmacy packaging operations, specifically filling prescriptions in hot seal blister packaging.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with other office staff and management.
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement, exercise initiative, and act in the best interest of ALCO and clients.
- Effective in organizing own work and meeting established productivity and quality measurements on a consistent basis.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Pharmacy Technician Maryland State Board license.
- One or more years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
