Job Title:
Electrode Department Operator Job Description The Electrode Department Operator works in the Mixing Department to safely handle and mix powdered materials used in production. This role involves operating mixing equipment, following strict safety and cleanroom procedures, and working with chemicals in a controlled environment. The position follows a rotating 12-hour day or night shift schedule and requires consistent attention to detail, physical stamina, and adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) standards. Responsibilities Operate mixing equipment in the Electrode Department according to established procedures and safety guidelines. Carry 30-pound bags of powder up and down stairs several times per day to load materials into mixing machines. Wear and properly use a full-face respirator mask and protective suit during powder handling and mixing operations. Dump powdered materials into bins to initiate the mixing process, typically 2-3 times per day, with each process lasting approximately 30-60 minutes. Work safely around slurry and chemicals created when powder comes into contact with acid and water, following all PPE and handling protocols. Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with cleanroom and 5S principles, including regular use of wash stations to prevent contamination. Follow all cleanroom gowning procedures, including wearing required garb and beard net if applicable. Adhere to production schedules and support general production tasks as needed in a large-scale manufacturing environment. Perform basic machine operation, assembly, and general production duties while maintaining high quality and safety standards. Walk frequently between buildings and across the plant as needed to support production operations. Essential Skills At least 6 months of manufacturing experience. Demonstrated ability to maintain a minimum of 9 months of tenure at previous jobs. Comfort working with and consistently wearing PPE, including a full-face respirator mask and protective suit. Ability to carry and repeatedly lift 30-pound bags of material up and down stairs multiple times per day. Willingness to work around chemicals, slurry, and powders while strictly following safety procedures. Experience in production, cleanroom work, assembly, machine operation, or general production. Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (day or night) on a 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on repeating schedule. Strong reliability and work history with minimal gaps in employment. Attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures in a cleanroom environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a cleanroom or highly regulated manufacturing environment. Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization and efficiency methodologies. Comfort working in a large facility that requires extensive walking between buildings and departments. Ability to work effectively in a temperature-controlled, brightly lit production environment. Strong commitment to safety, cleanliness, and proper use of PPE. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a very large, modern manufacturing facility where employees walk frequently between buildings and across the plant. The Electrode Department operates as a cleanroom, requiring employees to wear cleanroom garb and a beard net if applicable, along with a full-face respirator mask and protective suit similar to a painter's suit when handling powders. The environment is meticulously clean, temperature controlled, and brightly lit, with a strong focus on 5S principles and workplace organization. The mixing process can be dirty, with potential contact with powders and slurry; however, wash stations and appropriate PPE are provided to minimize exposure. Jewelry, including rings, is not worn in this area. The position follows a 12-hour shift schedule (6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for day shift or 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for night shift) on a rotating 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on schedule, resulting in 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next, with work occurring every other weekend. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holland, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
