Hand Assembly Operator

JOB SUMMARY

Assembles printed circuit boards, wire harnesses, subassemblies, and box builds using hand-assembly methods, soldering equipment and production machinery while following work instructions, customer requirements, quality standards, and safety procedures.

JOB FUNCTIONS

The following duties are regularly performed in this position. Other duties may be assigned as business needs change. Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed. Operates machinery in accordance with established procedures and work instructions. Mounts and secures components—including transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, component lead wire, and sockets—on printed circuit boards. Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and enclosures. Performs intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing and wire stripping/assembling. Adjusts, forms or trims components to meet specified electrical and dimensional requirements. Performs hand soldering duties in accordance with customer requirements and current IPC industry standards. Maintain a working knowledge of company operating procedures and QMS standards. Report safety, quality, production and personnel concerns to management immediately. Stops a shipment or production process when a quality or safety concern is identified.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role, an individual should meet these minimum education and experience requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Soldering experience preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform the job successfully, an individual should be able to meet the physical requirements of the position: Work in a standing or sitting position and be able to twist, turn, reach, grip and bend. Able to lift up to 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a manufacturing environment and involves the use of production machinery, hand tools, soldering equipment, and materials associated with electronic assembly.
