This pivotal role involves overseeing the slitting process of sheet metal coils, ensuring precise cuts, optimal safety standards, and efficient workflow. The ideal candidate will have slitting operations experience with a strong mechanical aptitude, technical expertise in various manufacturing and fabrication techniques, and leadership capabilities to guide a team of operators. Responsibilities Operate and supervise the slitting line machinery, including CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other automated cutting systems, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications. Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to set up equipment accurately for each job. Manage the setup, calibration, and maintenance of equipment such as press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and welding stations. Conduct quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, precision measuring instruments, and other tools to verify dimensions and surface quality of finished sheets. Coordinate with fabrication teams for assembly tasks involving sheet metal components while ensuring tooling and tooling adjustments meet production standards. Utilize forklift and crane operations safely for material handling, loading raw materials onto machines or moving finished products. Implement safety protocols consistently across all operations while training team members on proper machine operation and safety procedures. Troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime and optimize manufacturing efficiency. Maintain accurate documentation of production data, machine maintenance logs, and inspection reports. Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements for machining accuracy, material utilization, or workflow efficiency. Skills Proficiency in operating CNC laser cutting machines, plasma cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, press brake machines, welding equipment, and hand tools. Strong mechanical knowledge related to sheet metal fabrication processes and tooling setups. Experience with blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings with GD&T specifications. Ability to perform precise measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other quality inspection instruments. Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards including crane operation and forklift handling. Familiarity with CNC programming principles for setup optimization. Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations related to machining tolerances, and material estimations. Understanding of quality control procedures involving fabrication inspection techniques. Effective leadership skills to oversee team activities while fostering a safety-conscious environment.
