CNC Mills Setup Technician (HMC)
RESPONSIBILITIES
CNC machine Setup tech position is accountable for consistent and reliable operation of production cells having CNC machines to achieve production targets and quality with limited guidance. Troubleshoot and resolve process and machine issues in a timely fashion, safely, professionally and efficiently. Primary duties which involve reading blueprints, selecting and mounting tools, loading programs, and adjusting machine setup to ensure part quality as per drawing. Set up and operate
HMC, VMC CNC
machines by installing fixtures, attachments, appropriate cutting tools, and part program to run quality parts. (Makino HMC Machine Experience Preferred) Read and interpret part drawings, geometrical specs, and G-code programs Monitor machine operations and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, variable and attribute gauges to ensure they meet specifications. Review CMM reports and make real-time adjustments as needed Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment, robot and process issues Works with supervisors and engineers to identify and mitigate risk in the production process and ensure production standards and goals are achieved at all the time Maintain records of setups, tool changes, and any adjustments made during production Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area, often adhering to standards like 5S Do monitor robotic load/unload cycles and adjust robot setting on need basis Maintain identification traceability of parts throughout the shop floor Escalate issues to the supervisors/engineers promptly Take appropriate corrective action for process, quality and safety issues Train operators on machine setup and operation Identify areas for improvement implements on the machining process Ensure processes and procedures are carried out in accordance with Quality Management System

QUALIFICATION AND KNOWLEDGE
5+ years of experience in setting up 3axis, 4 axis and 5 axis HMC CNC machines (Makino machines setup knowledge preferred) Familiarity with CAD/CAM software preferred Experience with CNC machine operation and G-code programming Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, speed, feed and cutting speed terminology Ability to read blueprints and use precision measurement tools Machine setup, tooling, fixture and CNC offset adjustments Basic math and geometry for part dimensions / computer knowledge Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to follow procedures and work independently Problem-solving and mechanical aptitude High school diploma or GED required Must be team oriented and must have good communication skills Detail oriented mindset required to support the investigation and analysis of non-conformances. Pursue of zero defects. Must be able to read and follow Work Instructions Familiar with Makino, FANUC, Mori Seiki and similar CNC controls Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus Must be able to work flexible hours Ability to manage, navigate unexpected challenges with a focus to rapidly find solutions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, squatting, walking, bending 8 -10 hours per day Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more. Must be able to work in different weather conditions
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a Shop floor with exposure to fumes, noise, vibration and moving mechanical parts. This role functions in a welding, assembly and machine shop environment This role routinely uses standard and special purpose equipment such as CNC machines, robots welding, assembly fixtures and tools Technicians often work in assembly lines or automated production floors.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment when in a production area including ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toe boots etc.
