This position is designed to meet pressing project needs and will start as a temporary role, with the total duration dependent on evolving business needs and project volume. While a formal engineering degree is not required, we prioritize candidates who possess significant real-world experience in 3D printing, prototyping, machinery maintenance, and fabrication. We welcome applications from those with a strong background in maker projects, technical trades, or mechanical work, provided you are capable of operating autonomously within a professional setting. Core Responsibilities Manage and oversee various 3D printing systems to guarantee that all print jobs are executed with high efficiency and precision. Execute post-processing tasks such as support removal, sanding, and surface finishing to ensure parts meet final specifications. Evaluate printed components to verify their dimensional accuracy and overall functional quality. Ensure that 3D printers, testing hardware, and shop tools are properly calibrated, maintained, and repaired when necessary. Conduct regular preventive maintenance to help optimize equipment performance and identify potential process improvements. Create and install custom fixtures to help streamline prototype testing and general shop production workflows. Provide support for the assembly, evaluation, and documentation of various prototype projects. Oversee the organization and procurement of printing consumables, testing supplies, and general shop inventory. Help maintain a safe and orderly workspace by consistently following all established safety protocols. Collaborate on various fabrication, testing, and shop-related initiatives as business needs arise. Required Qualifications Proven background in the operation and upkeep of 3D printing hardware. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Capacity to manage your own workload effectively with minimal oversight. Proficiency in the safe utilization of various hand and power tools. High level of precision and a dedication to producing quality work. Flexibility to shift priorities and handle evolving project requirements. Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with various additive manufacturing methods such as FDM, SLA, or SLS. Background in product development, testing, or prototype fabrication. Experience with the calibration and routine repair of technical equipment. Ability to design and construct custom jigs, fixtures, and test setups. Fundamental CAD skills for file preparation and minor design adjustments. Previous experience in technical trades, machine shops, or maker-space environments.
