Laborer Job Description This role is a hands-on labor position in a precast concrete production environment, working under the direct supervision of a crew leader to learn and apply core construction and fabrication skills. You will support the fabrication of precast concrete wall panels by setting up and stripping forms, handling reinforcing materials, and assisting with concrete placement and finishing, while consistently improving your skills and contributing to a safe and productive workplace. Responsibilities Work under the direct supervision of a crew leader to learn and perform basic precast concrete fabrication skills. Set up and oil forms and molds for precast concrete wall panels. Lay mesh and tie reinforcing bars and steel according to instructions and drawings. Install inserts, embeds, insulation, rebar, hardware, and other components per shop drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. Assist with concrete placement, vibration, finishing, and curing to meet quality standards. Strike off concrete surfaces and strip forms and molds once panels have cured. Patch, finish, and detail precast panels as required to achieve specified appearance and quality. Assist with loading, rigging, and moving precast panels as needed. Use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift. Take initiative to remain involved in productive work throughout the workday, informing the crew leader when available for additional tasks. Come to work regularly and on time in accordance with company policy. Demonstrate loyalty to the company and mutual respect for supervisors and teammates. Function as a team player and look for ways to improve work processes and efficiency. Communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates in English and Spanish. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and the guidance of the Safety Coordinator. Assume responsibility for maintaining plant safety in accordance with the company safety manual. Essential Skills Ability to perform general labor tasks in a construction or concrete production environment. Capability to construct, assemble, and strip forms and molds for precast concrete wall panels. Skill in basic carpentry, including measuring, cutting, and assembling wood and metal forms. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively. Ability to use a tape measure accurately and follow detailed measurements. Capacity to assist with concrete placement, vibration, finishing, and curing. Ability to install embeds, insulation, rebar, and hardware per drawings and work instructions. Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Reliability in attendance and punctuality, following company scheduling policies. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors and teammates in English and Spanish. Willingness to work under direct supervision and show consistent improvement in skill and performance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with general construction or concrete work is beneficial. Background in carpentry or assembly work is an advantage. Comfort working with power tools and hand tools in an industrial setting. Ability to read and follow shop drawings, blueprints, and written work instructions. Attention to detail in patching, finishing, and detailing precast panels. Strong teamwork mindset and desire to contribute to continuous improvement in the plant. Ability to assist with rigging and moving heavy precast panels. Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish are highly valuable. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in an indoor and outdoor, nonclimate-controlled concrete production facility. You will work in a hands-on industrial setting around precast concrete forms, panels, and related equipment. The typical shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with opportunities for voluntary overtime. The environment involves exposure to varying temperatures, concrete materials, hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment, and requires adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for a concrete and construction facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
