Job Description

Overview Performs relatively routine tasks requiring general knowledge related to the work of the department and/or project team. This is an intermedicate level position in regards to machine operating, utilizing basic skills learned previously and applying them with increasing independence while completing the tasks as assigned. Responsibilities

  • Review work orders, blueprints, or follow verbal instructions for job routing, calculating accurate machining and determine set-up times needed.
  • Select required raw materials, performing hardness tests, calculating speeds, and feeds and depths of cut and tapers for machining of material.
  • Selects appropriate machine tools; tooling and fixtures needed for task and will perform machining operations using manual or CNC machine.
  • Operate vertical shears and punch presses.
  • Checks part dimensions and correctly evaluates all level II non-destructive test examinations.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner. Practices good housekeeping in work area. Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1 - 3 years' machine experience.
  • Ability to read simple mechanical blueprints.
  • Understand geometrical tolerance concepts and proven ability to apply concepts.
  • Experience in using hand gauges, micrometers and related measuring instruments.
  • Experience with products or components related to the MHS business preferred.
  • Experience operating the same or equivalent machine tools preferred.
