Job Title:

Machine Operator Job Description This role focuses on operating and supporting production machinery in a roofing materials manufacturing facility. You work primarily with extruders and presses, learning the specific setup and operation of each machine. As you gain experience, you take on more responsibility, including basic troubleshooting, adjusting machine parameters such as speed, and accurately reporting scrap. The position offers opportunities to cross-train across the plant and advance into broader responsibilities over time. Responsibilities Operate production machinery, including extruders and presses, in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Learn and apply the specific operating procedures for each assigned machine. Monitor machine performance and product quality during operation, making adjustments as needed. Troubleshoot basic machine issues, such as adjusting speed and other operating parameters to maintain optimal performance. Accurately track and report scrap and production output in accordance with plant procedures. Follow established quality standards, performing visual inspection and basic measurements when required. Support general production activities, including material handling and line support as directed. Use basic math skills to perform measurements and simple conversions, such as converting feet to inches. Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures in a manufacturing environment with loud machinery and exposure to fumes, odors, and dust. Work assigned shifts reliably, including weekend or weekday schedules, and remain flexible as shift needs evolve. Collaborate with team members and leads to maintain smooth production flow and meet daily production targets. Participate in cross-training opportunities to learn additional machines and processes throughout the plant. Essential Skills 35 years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, or a solid and consistent work history in manufacturing. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to work with production machinery. Experience in a general production or machine operation role in a manufacturing setting. Ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues and make operational adjustments. Comfort working in a quality-focused environment with inspection responsibilities. Basic math skills, including the ability to perform measurements and conversions such as feet to inches. Ability to work reliably on assigned shifts, including weekend or weekday schedules with 12-hour shifts. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift experience (sit-down) is a plus. Micrometer and caliper experience is a plus, though not required. Lead or supervisory experience in a production or manufacturing environment is beneficial. Experience in quality control or inspection roles is an advantage. Military experience may be considered in lieu of direct manufacturing or machine operating experience. Completion of a technical school program may be considered in lieu of some experience. Friday/Saturday/Sunday, 5:00 p.m.5:30 a.m.) and weekday B Shift roles (MondayThursday, 5:00 p.m.5:30 a.m.), with potential openings on weekday day shift (MondayThursday, 5:00 a.m.5:30 p.m.). Candidates train on their specific shift and may be assigned to C or D shift for initial cohorts. The work requires standing for long periods and operating machinery in a production setting, with a practical, safety-focused dress code appropriate for a manufacturing plant. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Senatobia, MS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
