Job Summary The Saw Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient setup and operation of various metal cutting saws to cut materials per work orders. This position may work independently or as part of a team and must follow all company policies and safety procedures. Job Function Essential Job Duties Operate overhead and/or wall walker crane using remote or pendant controls. Secure appropriate rigging devices (chains, straps, hooks, magnets, etc.) for lifting materials. Transport materials using crane or material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Perform safety inspections and complete applicable checklists. Set up and operate saws to cut materials per specifications; observe multiple saws as needed. Use hand tools to measure and verify material dimensions and quality. Utilize computer systems for documentation, labeling, scanning, and printing. Use grinders and sanders to remove burrs and rough edges. Label and package products for shipping using appropriate materials and banding equipment. Perform maintenance tasks such as changing saw blades, propane tanks, and sideloader batteries. Maintain a clean and safe work environment including sweeping shavings and clearing debris. Participate in safety, quality, and job training sessions. Required Skills Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience operating metal cutting saws or similar equipment preferred. Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measuring tools. Basic math and computer skills. Strong attention to detail and safety practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform tasks associated with medium work.
