Job Description

Job purpose To operate production machines in order to achieve daily, weekly, monthly, and annual output targets. Duties and responsibilities Perform mixing duties safely and accurately. Weigh and mix product according to the appropriate SOP under the direction of the Group Leader. Able to record accurate data on batch sheets while mixing inks. Obtain a full knowledge of the mixing, coating and ink supply system in order to be proficient in troubleshooting basic equipment and process problems. Charge ink raw materials and organic solvents into an ink production device in a measured & controlled manner thus producing a coat-able solution per established specification. Lead in basic maintenance activities by having input and explanation to what needs to be done . Then assist as possible, making sure activities are scheduled and completed in a timely manner. Strongly participate in productivity improvement plans and cost reduction plans (Total Productive Maintenance activity). Investigate and analyze causes for defective material or process inefficacies. Perform Quality Control testing. Verify the quality of the product with visual and machine inspections using batch sheets and work instructions. Operate forklifts to transport liquid and solid materials in a manner that is safe to self and others. Assist in the training of other mixing operators. Must learn coating room procedures and processes for cleaning and change overs. Facilitate internal communication and working relationships within areas of responsibility. Perform general housekeeping Perform all duties in accordance with established safety rules and regulations Additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent experience. Associate degree in technical field preferred. Experience in chemicals mixing/blending operations preferred. Must be able to work in close proximity with organic solvents, ink material and able to wear air-purifying respiratory protection equipment as needed. Prior product manufacturing experience required. Must have the ability to interface and communicate effectively, write legibly and read/comprehend sufficiently to perform the duties required Supervisory Responsibilities None Physical Demands Must be able to sit/stand for 12 hours The ability to use arms/hands/fingers to feel and reach Operator must be able to bend, stoop, squat, twist and work in cramped spaces. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, and move up to 500 pound drums. Repetitive arm and shoulder motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth. Safety Requirements Physically able to pass spirometry exam for test fitting of respiratory equipment. Ability to wear required PPE (including safety glasses, gloves (nitrile, canvas, etc.), hearing protection, ANSI-approved footwear, and others as required.) in any manufacturing area. Ability to wear required PPE if in any manufacturing area.
