Lead Chimney Technician:
The Lead Chimney Technician is responsible for leading residential chimney system installation projects from start to finish. This role oversees job site operations, ensures installations are completed safely and to company quality standards, mentors Chimney Apprentice Technicians and Technicians, and serves as the primary field representative for customers. The Lead Technician combines advanced technical expertise with strong leadership to deliver exceptional workmanship, exceptional customer service, and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and perform residential chimney system installations, repairs, relining projects, and appliance venting installations. Direct and supervise Chimney Apprentices and other technicians, providing coaching, mentoring, and hands-on training. Assign daily responsibilities and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company quality standards. Inspect work throughout each project to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, and applicable building codes. Communicate professionally with homeowners, answer questions, and provide project updates throughout the installation process. Ensure all required materials, tools, and equipment are available, properly maintained, and used safely. Complete job documentation, including photos, paperwork, and required digital reports. Maintain company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment in safe, clean, and serviceable condition. Enforce all company safety policies, including proper use of fall protection, PPE, ladders, and job site safety procedures. Identify additional repair opportunities or customer concerns and communicate recommendations to management. Foster a positive team environment built on professionalism, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Position Requirements:
Minimum of three (3) years of chimney installation, masonry, fireplace, venting, or related construction experience. Proven leadership experience directing field crews or installation teams. Strong knowledge of chimney systems, venting systems, fireplaces, and applicable building codes. Ability to safely lift 50+ pounds and work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Commitment to delivering exceptional craftsmanship, customer service, and job site safety. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Working Relationships:
Reports directly to the General Manager. Provides day-to-day leadership, training, and guidance to Chimney Apprentices and Technicians while working closely with Operations, Customer Service Representatives, Sales, and other field team members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with a high level of customer satisfaction.
