Job Summary:
Operate equipment that applies finish to fabric. Technician 1 has a Material Handler that sews in on the table. Technician 2 shares a material handler between ranges 1 and 2.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Finishing range, general office supplies, T frames, buggies, and scissors.
Essential Functions:
Perform the following duties according to
ISO 9001
work instructions and standards: Follow prescribed formulas to mix chemicals used for finishing. Make sure you have the right finish for the right fabric and that all identifying information matches. Add chemicals at appropriate time, program coaters, load fabric, and operate it according to directions. Monitor range and fabric as the fabric goes through the finishing process. Make sure there are no foreign objects in the chemicals and range. Work with the Exit End Operator to prevent and/or correct problems promptly. Keep a sufficient quantity of chemicals and supplies on hand. Monitor regularly. Maintain good housekeeping. Clean equipment and work area on regular schedule. If applicable to the machine, keep the foamer clean and the soap tank filled to the proper level. Flush out pumps and lines at the end of each shift. Clean or replace spray tips and filters as necessary. Operate equipment properly. Report malfunctions or maintenance concerns to supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. Work scheduled overtime.
Safety:
Be sure to follow safe storage, mixing, and disposal instructions according to the material data safety sheets. Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers. Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately. Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards. Maintain 5 S standards.
Qualifications:
Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others. Must have good math skills to weigh and mix chemicals by percentages according to formulas. Basic computer skills to track fabric by process. Be proficient in reading and writing English in order to follow special instructions and directions.
